Did you know that a ladybug can have up to 24 spots on their body?

Ladybugs are very small insects. They live in different places. There are more than 5,000 different species of ladybugs in the world. A ladybug’s scientific name is Coccinellidae. Ladybugs belong to the Insecta class. They are in the Animalia kingdom and their Phylum is Arthropoda.

Ladybugs eat small insects. They eat insects that have soft bodies like mites, whiteflies or scale insects.

Their predators are spiders, people and birds. Their main predator are birds because they hunt, kill and eat them. When their predators approach them, they pretend to die and their colours also warn them to stay away.

Some ladybugs have 24 spots on their body and some don’t have any. Ladybugs can live for two to three years. Ladybugs are not really bugs but they are beetles. A female ladybug can lay up to 100 eggs. Ladybugs bleed from their knees when they are threatened.

I really enjoyed playing soccer!

On Wednesday 24th of May 2017, the year fives, year sixes and the intermediates went out of school to represent Saint Patrick’s School in a soccer tournament against the other schools in our cluster.

We all went there in the car  to get to Point England reserve. We were the first ones there. When we went out of the car , we practised kicking and passing the ball to each other.

There were four strikers, four defenders and one goalie. We all were really excited to play our first game and our last game.

First we played against Ruapotoka Primary School. After that we played against Glenbrae Primary School. The third school that we played against was Stonefield Primary School. Then we versed against Panmure Bridge Primary School and our last game was against our last game was against  Tamaki Primary School.

After all our games ended, we all felt really tired and lazy.  Soon after that, we waited for our helpers to come and pick us up from Point England Reserve. We soon all arrived back at school and we went back to class.

I really enjoyed playing all the games, because I like being a striker as I get to attack with the ball.

Learning Intention: We are learning to write a structure of a recount.
